Directly sell a storage company..Need help.
Question:
For an outstanding $5.00 late fee my parent's storage company sold ALL their possessions. The storage company is in Escondio California (near San Diego). There was our baby pictures, films of us growing up, my mother wedding dress, etc, etc. The storage place will not help us track down the buyer. The auctioneer will not give us the name of the person who bought the goods. I am desperate! Can anyone help? The stuff was sold Dec 1. It was worth well over $50K. At this point we are begging for the return of the non-valuables like the pictures, films, etc.
Answer:
Another thought went thru my mind. Look carefully at the storage contract. Examine the terms. There should also be an address and phone # of the state governmental agency that oversees the moving and storage industry and deals with consumer complaints such as yours. They are most likely located in Sacto. How late was the outstanding storage fee? There are certain rules that a storage co. must follow b4 selling someones possessions in Calif. Check with your local district atty office also check with consumer affairs office in S.D. I believe that consumer affairs is a dept of District attys office. If they don`t know, they can certainly lead you in the right direction. I believe that there is also a control agency in Sacto. with an 800 # that controls the behavior of moving and storage co`s. You may have grounds for legal redress against this storage outfit. Do some careful research 1st and then see an atty if circumstances warrant legal action.
