Advice needed on moving large console

Question:

Situation: Moving 11 foot console from location to my studio by means of 15 foot box truck. Console weighs aprox. 500-600 lbs. No lift gate on truck...just a pull out ramp. Any suggestions on preping, packing, loading, securing for what will be a 600 mile ride? Wish to arrive with the console in one working piece

Answer:

_Pull all the modules then distribute and pack them carefully in boxes. Pad and secure the main frame so it can't tip or slide. That's what my old partner and I did when moving a large old SpectraSonics board by truck.
_That might be exactly what you don't want. Frequently large frame consoles are partially dismantled before shipping. A console frame without its channel strips weighs considerably less than when loaded. It also lets you thoroghly examine the condition of the console as you piece it back together.
_Beleive it or not, this places like Mail Post, Pony Express et al can point you in the right direction. had my 30x16 soundtrac(this sounds like the same size you are talking-BIG CONSOLE-) overland via roadway, a mailpost outfit went and got it, packed it, shipped it, in one piece, came in with no problems, cost almost 800, but that was 3000+miles from point A to B, including the packageing, so it can be done, and that doesn't sound to expensive to me.....check those type places out, you would be surprised.
