how do you attach a camera to a moving car?
Question:
I 've seen a lot of photographs in the British Car magazines where a camera is attached to the OUTSIDE of a moving car, rendering the car perfectly still but the background blurred. The camera is operated by remote control and in these pictures you never see the entire car, usually only the side of the car. I haven't seen these types of images here in Australia where car action shots are simply variations on panning or shooting a car from another car moving at the same speed. Does anyone know the details of how to attach a tripod, or similar, to a moving car and if so please explain.
Answer:
_A kind of rig that uses big "suckers" similar to those used by window
companies to carry large sheets of glass.
_Have a look at http://www.ioportracing.com/video.htm
I have the Hama Universal Video Camera Mount which I attach to the inside of the
windscreen. Stays attached when offroading.
_also - attach it while the car is parked..... or at least moving very
slowly.
_All depends how fast it's going........ personally, I'd have thought
attaching it to a stationary car would be much easier
_Try caravan style towing mirrors. Clip on rain gutter under bonnet and
wheel arch.
_Don't attach it whilst driving at high speed, it is dangerous to your
health! + you prob won't see where you are going.
