WTB: Cardboard Moving Boxes
Question:
I need to buy a good bit of small and medium size boxes. The move will just be to Houston so their condition is not that important.
Answer:
_Go to HEB late at night, there's boxes of *all* kinds EVERYWHERE. Oh, and if
you get the banana boxes, sometimes there's a few stray bananas in 'em
_At a strip mall, look behind the stores for a cardboard recycle bin, usually
a greenish blue color, you'll find tons in there.
_Call up your closest HEB or, preferably, Central Market. Ask for the
Produce Department and ask them to save you their Apple Boxes for the day.
You'll have more than enough, especially if you go the CM route.
While Banana Boxes are nice and strong and have handles, I've already made
that mistake. Unless you're using them for linens and the such, that's
going to be a heavy box.
_Hancock Center, for example. Very accessible cardboard bin, and the
boxes are of must better quality than any supermarket boxes (where
they usually use exacto knives to open them, and not at the seams).
