Reputable moving truck rental?
Question:
Just wondering if any of the website users here have any recommendations for a do it yourselfer renting a moving truck from a reputable company, ex) Uhaul? Also, who should I avoid dealing with?
Answer:
I've had good luck with budget in the past. Also, if you are moving decent
furniture, I would suggest renting those moving blankets that the real movers
use. If budget doesn't rent them out, just call a moving company and see if
they will rent them to you. They will likely want a big deposit, but if your
furniture is nice stuff it is very worth while.
Also, if you are moving furniture, some moving companies have little booklets
on how to pack stuff properly. I did this for a company many years ago, and
although the books were just for training staff, the manager often sold copies
to people wanting to move themselves. If you are moving far (another city) it
can really save you in broken dishes.
If you moving in the city and want less hassle call Geransky's. They do it
all for very reasonable prices. I've hired them twice with absolutely no
problems and not much more than renting a Uhaul. (I've done that before
aswell)
STAY AWAY from UHAUL they have the worst vehicles. The truck I rented had no
lights at all an Uhaul didnt even care. I took it back with the fuel a
little below the line it was at when i got and they wanted to charge me like
$40 or $50 . I ended up taking it and putting $5 in it and it was over the
line.
Another vote for Geransky's. We have used them three times (once out of an
apartment, once out of a rental and once into a brand new house). They've
provided quality service each and everytime!
