A Say what? moment -- Howl's Moving Castle
Question:
Can anyone figure out any way in which Howl's Moving Castle can be read as lolicon? 'Cause I can't.
Answer:
Is that a secure academic anime/manga list. Do you know who's posting?
If not, I would suspect this is a troll. An inflammatory post designed to
stir things up.
You'd think Howl's Moving Castle would be just the opposite - a celebration
of old age.
The only thing I can think of is someone is confusing young with underage,
and underage with pedophile/loli.
I mean, sheesh, I can see a lot more loli undertones in stuff like _Totoro_
and _Kiki's_ and _Spirited Away_. In fact, after three or so movies with
pre-teen girls, it's odd that they use a movie with a clearly
post-pubescent heroine as their example of "loli".
I've seen Howl's and I am positive there is nothing there that would
suggest loli theme at all.
I think someone got his college degree out of Cracker Jack box and
pulled Howl's out of his ass.
Take Totoro and show the prof the nude bath scene. Then show him
Spirited Away and point out nearly half of the movie are in the bath
area where there'd be people in nudes. A 12 year old girl really
shouldn't bre working in that area.--
