Moving Recorded TV Programs To PC
store
Question:
currently have Directv and the H20 DVR. I have a bunch of shows that I
have recorded and was wondering if there is a simple way to move these shows
to PC. I used to use media center to record programs before I got the DVR.
I tired moving recorded programs from DVR to PC and the media center would
only allow me to record live. So I had to wait until a program that was the
same length as the one i wanted to transfer was on, and I would have to play
the recorded program removing the IR blaster and it would transfer. Is there
any other way that is quicker and cleaner on the DVD? This is really a pain.
Is there a software that makes this easier?
There is a USB port on it, i am not sure what the file format is.
Answer:
That USB may allow you to add an external hard drive to store the programs,
if that is true, you then might be able to plug that same drive into your PC
an view the files. You probably should be asking these questions of your
cable provider or the mfg of the box you have. The issue seems to be more
about what the box can do rather than what Media Center can do.
If your box has no way to transfer files directly, then the only alternative
would be to play them into the Media Center box and re-record in real time
(like transferring old VHS tapes).
