Moving in 6 weeks and are putting together a checklist of things that need to be done before then.
Question:
Can anyone point to a WWW resource or share a list they made up. ?
Answer:
I'm getting ready to move myself. Some moving companies give out checklists. There are also books in the library that outline a schedule of things to do. If you are hiring a mover, get one now. Do your change of address cards. In Canada, there is a checklist on the back of the postcards of who to notify. Cancel subscriptions - paper, magazines. Cancel & set up water, hydro, gas, phone, property insurance, cable. Notify: Associations, banks, Pension plan, credit cards, church, clubs, dentist, department stores, doctors, driver's license, employer, family allowance, friends, hospitalization plan, local service contractors, library, lawyer, magazines, newspapers, old age security, optometrist, relatives, IRS, schools, stockbroker, union, utilities, vehicle registration, others. Arrange for someone to disconnect your stove and dryer if you're moving them and don't know how. Get your pet vaccinated. Get tranquilizers for your pet. Fill any prescriptions. Close your safety deposit box a week before you move. Stop buying food except for perishables. Use up what's in your freezer first. If you're leaving an apartment, notify the manager, and ask for check-out procedures. My manager gave me a checklist of what needed to be cleaned in the apt. Good luck.
