Answer:
Sounds like a great way to treat folks helping you move, Peter. I only ever just offered beer. But then my kitchen/BBQ was not organized at the time of the move-in. True, but then again, after a hard day of moving (and I can attest to my last move)... the only thing I wanted to do was find where they put the box with the soap and towels and take a shower and go to bed. At least they put the bed in the right room. And I *did* hire professional movers. But I had to go to the office because my phone wasn't working and my dog was very ill at the vet and my phone wasn't working. So I went to the office to use their phone to call the vet. Meanwhile, they just put all the boxes in this room and said to heck with it. I'm still trying to find stuff almost 10 years later. All my boxes were clearly labelled. Each time I move (get new furniture) the friends that help me become part of the 'history'....... part of *my* history. It's like an invisible, everlasting, bond between you. Same same for the group of firefighters that tackled the last 12 hour fire. We fought it, we ended up winning. We went back to our lives. We go about our everyday lives, but when we meet in our everyday lives, we're like very loved family that you haven't seen for years....... you share something like that, it's a powerful bonding agent. For me........ coming from a military 'no touch, no feelings, no emotion, just get on with the job' aspect..... it's very different having people actually *thank you* for doing your job.
