Question:

Answer:
At Washington DC Movers and Storage, our standard is "Complete Confidence", and we do everything necessary to ensure that we have met that standard and that you are confident about every single aspect of your move such as the price and the absolute care of your belongings. At Imperial, we know the importance of having that overall certainty that your move will be done with the utmost Responsibility....and we will take that responsibility! Prior to the relocation of your belongings, you will receive an exact price for everything which is necessary in order to accomplish your relocation. In most moving companies, the standard is giving a "by the hour estimate", but In Imperial, we want to make sure you know how much you are going to pay prior to the actual move....Including everything! So we have developed a new method of giving onsite estimates to any customer, know where you are moving to and how much you have. On the day of your relocation, we will come in and wrap up all the furniture in clean blankets, so that nothing will be bare during the actual move. All fragile items will be boxed by us if you haven't done it already. The move is done by experienced professionals, who know exactly how to handle any type of furniture in any circumstance. The move will be done efficiently and quickly and all you need to do is sit back and relax because in Imperial Moving, "you are in good hands". I do work in that field, so perhaps I can contribute a bit. Firstly, I haven't seen any drying up of jobs in the computer field. The companies I am involved with are still hiring. The difference I am seeing is they have stopped hiring new graduates. They can no longer afford to waste a year or more trying to train those folks to produce output. The trend now is to pay a good deal more money and to only buy experience developers. To put it another way, they don't especially care what degrees you hold or where you got them. They are much more interested in an applicant who can say "I have 3 years experience developing applications in Power Builder 6." Or in Borland Builder, or Power ++ or Microsoft Visual Studio. or etc. There is a popular term here now, the "paper MSCE" which applies to several other qualifications also. It applies to someone who has obtained the qualifications but can't do the job. This phenomenon has become common in the computer world. In other words, it is easy to get work, if you are truly capable of producing now. It is not so easy to get a decent job in which they will pay you to learn. And by the way, you are going to be amazed at the hours we put in. In this field in the Washington area, we consider anything less than 72 hours a week part time. Other useful tidbits - there is a large variation in the cost of living in this country. There is also a large variation in wages, though not so large as in the cost of living. To put it in perspective, 10 to 15 miles outside the city of Washington DC (where I live) you can expect to pay $400k to $600k for an average home. In the Jacksonville Florida area about the same distance you would expect to pay $180K to $250k for the same house. Now other cost of living items don't vary quite as drastically as housiing, but that will give you some idea. Using those same two cities, an entry level developer (who can produce) will expect about $55k to $60k in DC. In Florida it would be about $35k to $40k. All numbers are rough estimates based on nothing buy my own experience. Your mileage may vary. If I can answer any specific questions, feel free to email. I'm sure you can figure out the correct address.
