Wanted: 13' CT or 16' VT U-Haul Camper
Question:
Why did U-Haul get out of this business?
Answer:
Nice web site. Although I don't own a U-Haul or other fiberglass egg, I found you site quite interesting. A couple of questions if you don't mind: What are the overall dimensions and weight of these units? Why did U-Haul get out of this business? It looks like a would be a good business for a firm already in the rental business. The dry weight is approximately 1600 pounds. GVWR is #2000 Tongue weight is 150 lbs. The standard U-Haul Camper Trailer or CT model was 13' which is actually bumper to tongue, the actual shell was 6' wide by 10' roughly. L.S. Shoen, the founder was driving the company into the ground when Rec Vee World of U-Haul was created. The sons ousted him out, and took over the company. The company almost declared bankruptcy so, Rec Vee World was dropped, and the sons believed in the founders original intentions of strictly being in the storage rental business. Go back to my web site, I added a few more links regarding the history of U-Haul.
