Are there any hills offering good views of Houston?

Question:

Are there any hills offering good views of Houston?

Answer:

If you are going to try a bridge I recommend renting a large U-Haul for the emergency lane. It should absorb most of the shock. Remember to stay well to the front. You will need an aircraft since Houston is situated on a coastal plain that while not as flat as Kansas is nearly so. If you have rilly good eyesight and carfare past San Antonio or some time on the Hubble telescope you might get a glimpse of the top of the Transco Tower or whatever they're calling it these days. 'High' is a misnomer when applied to drug use since one usually ends up on the floor after overuse and although you may believe those buildings are real and large, they are just the Roach Motels under the sofa. However, the 6 inch long cockroaches crawling across the floor are real and juvenile at that! The view from the Mckee St Bridge near (ahem) Enron Field will provide some vistas. I recall a set of excellent and tasteful female nudes some fellow took at that location with the skyline in the background that were posted in the appropriate websites a couple years ago. The nude woman is probably gone but the skyline remains. Get a Keymap at the local booksellers and look for the 1900 block of Franklin St downtown where Chenevert St crosses. McKee St and it's bridge is nearby to the north and east. Don't go there after dark as the Non-Traditional Money Liberators may mistake you for an opressor of cash and credit cards! If you have a paperbag containing a bottle of cheap wine you may be able to disguise yourself enough to get a few photographs. Not sure it's legal or safe, but when the weather is good there is a very nice view of the Houston skyline (uptown to downdown, Reliant and the Astrodome) from the top of the Beltway 8 South bridge over 288. There is Mount Houston, but there's not really much of a rise there, much less a mountain. Unfortunately, the only good vistas of Houston come from your car window as you ply the Bayou City's highways and byways. If you're quick about it, HPD probably won't hassle you too much if you get out of the car. Transcorwhateverit'sbeenrenamed Tower used to have an observation deck.On a clear day, you could see at least to Greenway.
