U Haul Moving
Question:
I rented a UHaul truck sometime in january, and while pulling out I scratched a sign they had on the parking lot. I had gotten the UHaul insurance and the lady at Uhaul said, arent you glad you got the insurance? and of course, I kinda was! then she said they would take care of everything. Well today, 4 months later, I get a letter from the Replic Western Insurance Company, saying they are the UHaul insurance company, that they are investigating the matter, and that they need me to contact them with my auto insurance policy handy. So while I dont mind contacting them, what do they want from me? are they going to try to claim from my insurance company? if so, why? I payed for the UHaul insurance? is this going to be on my driving record? I really dont want my auto insurance to go up!!!! Please tell me if anyone has had similar issues, and what they had to do?
Answer:
well I finally got in touch with the person I am supposed to contact over at
Republic Western Insurance.
She said that the Safemove from Uhaul insurance only covers damages to the
truck and its content, not to anything else, and that they ahve to file a
claim with my insurance company, that if my insurance company says I am not
covered for that then they will just drop it.
So here is my question, how does safemove help with the following statement,
quoting from the safemove explanation page:
"Does my personal auto-insurance policy cover damage to vehicles I rent?
Probably not. Many auto policies cover damage to rental cars, but most do
not cover rental trucks. And even if they do, you have deductibles and
increased premiums to consider. "
